BOOK REVIEW

EWN Summer 2024

A Taut, Menacing and Compulsive Read

Who doesn't like a missing child tale - they've been a mainstay of movies and novels for years. This thriller won't disappoint fans of the genre on a sunny summer afternoon or a dark winter evening - it has it all: mystery, cruelty, suspense and a satisfying ending.

It is well written and intricately plotted, atmospheric, sometimes creepy and kept me guessing all the way through. DI Barbara Forster is on the rack but will she survive, contrary to her boss’s plans, to crack both the cold case and the mystery of the latest missing child? If a riveting page turner is what you're after sit back and enjoy the white knuckle action ride.

The best of the psychological suspense crime genre.

 WHAT READERS SAY

Fast-Paced

I am not an avid fiction reader and I get bored very easily. But I have to say that this book kept me turning the pages until I reached the end, which is unusual for me. If a fictional book doesn't grab me from the beginning then I stop reading. I loved the plot and the characters. The descriptions of emotion were fantastic and so spot on. I really recommend this book especially if you like fast-paced novels.’ Mel Rees, Newport, 2024

‘A good rounded thriller that kept me hooked with a nice surprise and double twist at the end.  This book, unlike so many others, didn't fizzle out and limp onto the conclusion but blasted its way there! Even in the closing pages there are revelations that add up to a good plotline and engrossing story.’ Mike Smith, Manchester, 2024

‘A gripping read, lots of tension and surprises when you’re immediately whisked on an emotional rollercoaster. Great character development, even greater story telling. Gentle yet brutal too.’ Julie Ross, Glasgow, 2024

Twists and Turns

‘A fast-paced, intricately detailed thriller - plus a murder mystery with a psychological twist. It gets my vote!’ Chris Stevens, Liverpool, 2024

'Great read, lots of suspense and more twists and turns than an alpine walking trail. A truly nail-biting thriller with an astonishing but totally satisfying climax.’ Nikki Andrews, Edinburgh, 2024

‘Thoroughly good read with an unusual plot, full of suspense and tension with lots of twists and turns before the final surprise.’ Vicky Jones, Bradford, 2024

Unputdownable

‘Good thriller. Kept me reading, couldn’t put it down. Edge of my seat stuff with an unexpected conclusion that’ll leave you gasping! I enjoyed it.’ Debra Lewis, Aberystwyth, 2024

‘Good page turner, didn’t see what was coming until well into the novel. Well written. Surprises all the way through till the very end.’ Sam Cooke, Salford, 2024

‘The reader’s kept guessing until the end in a book which I found difficult to put down and read in two days - always a good sign. Very highly recommended!’ Carrie Wilson, Luton, 2024
